Capacity Building for Gender-Based Violence Network and Teachers on MHPSS

All stories

Funding Source: Consultancy service with CIGPJ In April 15-17, 2026, Brain Care Consult (BCC) implemented a consultancy capacity-building initiative in Juba and Bentiue designed to strengthen the coping skills, emotional wellbeing and reactivating functionality of gender-based violence (GBV) network members and teachers with mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) concepts. The intervention responded to the need for stronger frontline psychosocial care, survivor-centered communication, and safe support systems within both community protection structures and school environments. The training focused on practical competencies in group counseling, individual counseling, psychological first-line support, identification of emotional distress, basic case handling, and referral pathways for vulnerable survivors and learners requiring specialized support. By targeting both GBV responders and teachers, the project created stronger linkages between community-based protection services and school-based psychosocial support systems.
